Number 4, almost there!

I just finished my cd cover! It took much longer than i thought it would, because it was really hard to get the right measurements. I chose to do a colourful theme for my case, using mostly the colours red, orange and green. It makes it stand out from all the rest because of it's bright colours. As for the recording part, I think i got everything down! I know all the notes and rhythms, but I haven't recorded yet. I am just waiting on a microphone and then I'll be all set to go.

Blog three, troubles

I have been sick the last couple days so it has really taken away from my practising time in school AND out of school. I finally was able to get out of bed today, so I have been working on my CD cover. I only have a few more days left until everything is supposed to be finished, so i'm on a pretty tight scheduale right now, I hope I will be able to get it done in time. I'm still having trouble with the same bars so I'm going to need to keep practising those, and I don't think the CD cover will take me too long to do. I'm hoping to start recording tomorrow night and seeing how well that goes. I will keep you updated!

working on the music, post 2!

So I have been practising quite a bit lately, trying to get all the notes right. I'm still having some trouble with bars 13-22, but I've been improving because I'm working on those bars the most. It's the E naturals that i can not do, the fingering for a high E is different for the fingering on the low one, so that's what gets me the most. I keep messing my fingering for just that one note. I haven't practised with the piano accompaniment yet, because i want to get all the notes correct before i advance onto that. I've also realized the confusing "road map" with this piece of music. There are repeats and D.S al fine's. It might be hard to follow so i may have to put in some arrows in there to help me out a little bit. Other than those few minor problems, it's all good. I am able to do the slurs and the stacatto's now, so i just need to practise the few bars that i'm having trouble with!

First blog! Looking at the music!

I just got my new accompaniment the other day and I will be playing the flute along with the piano as a background. I took a good look at the piece before playing, and thought it would be quite a challenge, but once i started site reading some of it was actually pretty easy. From bars 5 to 13 it is the easiest part, it's pretty much the same pattern with easy to read notes and fingering. It is full slurs and staccatos which won't be too hard to get down in time, but for now it's a bit of a challenge but i can do it with some practise. Throughout the next 10 bars starting on 13, it's pretty much the same beat as the first couple lines, except higher notes. Once you get to the high notes and you have to play them at a faster tempo, it gets quite difficult. I find the high E natural hard to get down. There is no key signature throughout the piece, so it's different from most music. The dynamics aren't very difficult seeing as their simple, playing piano, forte and such. There aren't any crescendoes except for the last bar. The time signature is also different from other pieces of music, in most cases you play in 4/4 time, but here it's 2/4 time. The accidentals are pretty challenging in the last lines, but it shouldn't take too long before I can get them right. We'll see how this turns out!!
